Coated PCB transport: specify contact surfaces and magazine clearance

Coating changes the handling question: contact areas, material condition and carrier clearance must be agreed before loading or unloading equipment is selected.

Coating-line handling

Define the material condition at handoff

State the coating process step immediately before handling and obtain the relevant material handling requirements from the process owner. Mark permitted contact areas and protected surfaces on the board drawing. Do not assume that a board ready for one downstream process is ready for every magazine or belt. A coating-line equipment label does not establish cure status or a material-specific safe contact condition.

Coating-line handling

Request the actual rail and contact mechanism

The manufacturer coating-loader and unloader references describe different transport implementations, but their archived model tables share codes. That inconsistency requires clarification before a precise configuration is quoted. Request the actual belt or chain arrangement, support positions and pusher contact. Keep the native supplier identity with the evidence. Do not resolve a conflicting model table by borrowing a code from the neighboring page.

Coating-line handling

Trial clearance with the real populated assembly

Measure the magazine grooves and the component envelope on both sides. Inspect access to the accepted contact edge. Run the normal incoming and outgoing sequence with representative coated assemblies whose handling condition has been approved by the process engineer. Retain before-and-after photographs of relevant surfaces. A trial using bare boards does not establish the contact behavior of the coated product.

Coating-line handling

Separate transport fit from coating acceptance

Specify the accepted material condition, contact drawing, carrier and transfer sequence in the RFQ. Keep visual coating inspection, cure qualification and handling compatibility as separate acceptance tasks. A UV workstation can support a defined viewing task but cannot settle a mechanical contact question. Obtain a corrected configuration sheet and identified-unit evidence before confirming the loader or unloader.
