Count the boards that can actually be staged
List the permitted magazine sizes, occupied slots and assemblies per slot. Exclude positions that cannot be used because of component height or an agreed separation rule. Distinguish a position holding a full incoming magazine from a position reserved for an empty one. The Vanstron single- and multi-magazine references illustrate different staging arrangements; their cabinets alone cannot tell you the useful board count for your product.

Use an explicit replenishment example
For illustration, sixty usable boards arriving at the next process every twelve seconds represent twelve minutes of material before exchange delays. If an operator returns after ten minutes, the nominal margin is only two minutes. This calculation is a planning example, not a model rating. Replace all inputs with your product mix and measured consumption. Include the effect of partly filled magazines and boards already in transfer.

Measure the complete replacement sequence
Record the time from a low-material indication to a correctly located replacement magazine and resumed loading. Include walking distance, handling, checking the identifier and dealing with an empty carrier. Ask the supplier to demonstrate the last occupied slot, an empty slot and the magazine exchange. An isolated mechanical exchange time does not include every task the operator performs and should not be presented as a full replenishment allowance.

Choose positions from the real service pattern
Compare the current operator route with the available replenishment window. More staging may help intermittent service, while a repeatable nearby exchange can make a smaller arrangement suitable. Specify who responds to an alarm and what happens if the replacement is delayed. Accept the installed configuration with the agreed magazine and board mix. Do not turn a catalogue magazine count into a claim of continuous unattended operation.
