Buying SMT filter elements: match the host, replacement code and pack contents

Compare a filter-element offer with a complete filter assembly or a service kit, using explicit host identity, order reference and included contents.

A filter quote can describe different objects

Two offers headed “SMT vacuum filter” can cover different purchases: a complete filter assembly, a replacement element or a kit that also includes seals. A bag photograph and a total piece count do not establish which object is being offered. Start by defining what the maintenance job actually requires.

Keep the installed host identity, required replacement reference and supplied contents in separate fields. They answer different questions. A familiar head name does not identify every filter position inside that head, and an element code does not automatically include its housing or seals.

Use manufacturer examples within their own scope

SMC’s vacuum-filter catalogue separates complete filters from replacement filter elements. It also describes element offers that include an O-ring. This shows why the word filter alone is an incomplete supply description: an element and a complete assembly can have different order and package scopes.

That SMC example is not an interchangeability reference for a FUJI, JUKI or Panasonic machine. Do not transfer its seal contents, service limits or ratings to another product. The applicable host parts information must resolve the actual replacement requirement.

Build the comparison around four fields

  1. Host and position: record the machine, exact head or filter-body designation and the element’s installation position.
  2. Required reference: retain the complete replacement code and applicable parts-list or service reference.
  3. Offered contents: list each element, seal, housing or accessory included, with quantities and any exclusions.
  4. Evidence: identify which actual labels, packaging records or documents support the offered identity and condition.

Ask a seller to itemise a mixed pack by code and quantity. A statement such as assorted NXT filters leaves both the host match and the bill of materials open.

Keep the H24 reference separate from an assortment

The supplier 2MGTHA054200 H24 filter reference names one order reference, but its loose-element image does not label each piece or define a service kit. Request the applicable head position and the exact delivery contents before using that picture to compare offers.

If a seller proposes several filter types for different heads, retain those as separate line items. Similar white elements may be difficult to distinguish in a small image. The missing identity cannot be repaired by multiplying the photograph’s visible pieces into a quoted quantity.

Do not ask packaging to prove more than it can

A label or supplier package photograph can help organise an identification enquiry, but it does not by itself certify current contents, authenticity or installed fit. Request evidence from the actual offered pack where those questions matter, together with the applicable technical reference.

The MP Grease 2S pack example illustrates the boundary: a stated cartridge size does not prescribe a maintenance dose. Likewise, a filter pack count does not define a complete head service kit. Keep commercial packaging and technical service scope separate.

Compare equivalent scope before the price

Once identity and contents are clear, compare quantity, stated supply condition, packaging, delivery terms and the agreed acceptance evidence. Keep an alternative element or kit separate until the responsible technical party accepts its application basis. A cheaper element-only quote may simply omit parts covered by another offer.

This framework supplies no filtration rating, replacement interval, cleaning method or cross-head approval. Its purpose is to make the purchasing requirement inspectable before an order is placed, without turning a catalogue illustration into an unsupported technical specification.

Technical sources and catalogue examples

SMC separately describes complete vacuum filters and replacement elements, including element offers with O-rings. That manufacturer example supports distinguishing the supplied object and contents. It is not evidence that an SMC element fits a FUJI head, or that a FUJI offer includes the same seals.
