Used SMT Machine Selection: Utilities, Transfer and Software Interfaces | LCSMT

Compare a used SMT machine with the real installation: utilities, full panel or carrier, feeder generation, transfer and software handover.

Buying guidance

Use the installed configuration drawing

A cabinet dimension is only one part of an installation envelope. Add feeder access, tray supply, open covers, service clearance and the route into the building. The current SIPLACE TX page gives different depth figures in its marketing text and dimension table. Resolve that difference with the configuration drawing before fixing the floor plan. Record the machine, packing and access envelopes separately; a crate that fits a vehicle may not fit the final doorway.

Buying guidance

Check the serial plate and site services together

For each shortlisted unit, obtain the nameplate and installation requirements for its voltage, phases, frequency, protective supply and compressed air. Give those documents to the responsible installation engineer. Do not assume that a transformer, plug change or nominal voltage match resolves every supply requirement. Record any proposed adaptation and who will design and verify it. Catalogue values help screening; the actual machine documentation governs installation.

Buying guidance

Trace the same board or carrier through the whole line

Write one controlled drawing for the panel or carrier, including thickness, component protrusions, warpage and support needs. Check flow direction, fixed rail, transfer height and interface at every boundary. DSL-850 has a published 850 × 610 mm substrate envelope, but that does not qualify the downstream SPI, mounter or oven. A TX micron accuracy class can also have a smaller vacuum-transport envelope than its general conveyor mode. Compare the condition tied to each figure rather than combining the largest values.

Buying guidance

Treat feeders and tooling as part of the equipment choice

The M10 supplier listing distinguishes F1/F2 feeders and F3 electric feeders. YSM40R separately lists RS and MU head arrangements. These examples show why a model name and a box of feeders are insufficient purchase scope. List feeder generation, widths, quantities, heads, nozzles, tray units and fixtures. Ask which combinations have been demonstrated. Keep unsupported compatibility claims out of the quotation until matched documentation or a controlled trial resolves them.

Buying guidance

Confirm useful interfaces and transferable software

Identify the installed machine software, licensed features, supported data formats and communication hardware. ASMPT lists standard interfaces for SIPLACE TX, while DESEN advertises SPI linkage for DSP-TS. Neither statement proves that two offered machines exchange the required data without additional options or configuration. Specify the intended message or workflow, identify both interface endpoints and agree a demonstration. Confirm lawful licence transfer and available backups with the seller; do not assume unrestricted transfer.

Buying guidance

Rank unresolved dependencies before comparing headline speed

First resolve board fit, services, safety documentation and unsupported interfaces. Then compare actual program performance and changeover needs. Yamaha identifies YSM40R as discontinued, so include parts, software and service support in the decision rather than treating a catalogue rate as the main selection criterion. Assign each open item an owner and evidence needed to close it. Do not describe the line as compatible or commissioned until the relevant checks have been completed.

Sources and scope

Manufacturer pages describe model capabilities. Supplier listings identify sourcing references. The installation and inspection advice above is a practical synthesis, not a claim of tests performed on an offered machine.
