Application and identification

Use and ordering context

RF is the feeder series; RS-1 is a placement-machine model. The feeder model and machine name answer different ordering questions. Start with the RF designation, then check the carrier tape and the installed bank. An identification label helps identify the photographed feeder, while the quotation must also confirm the orderable assembly number and revision.

02 / Check before ordering

Match the installed part

Check the installed code and machine configuration. Similar appearance or a shared series name does not establish interchangeability.

RF08AS model label and drive-side detail. Read the model separately from the manufacturing number.
  1. Read the full RF model on the installed feeder. Keep its manufacturer number separate from the orderable assembly number; they are not interchangeable identifiers.
  2. Match carrier-tape width and component pocket pitch separately. For example, RF08AS lists 1, 2 and 4 mm pitches, while RF12AS lists 2, 4, 8 and 12 mm.
  3. Identify the machine model, RF bank and software configuration. Confirm any required interface or attachment against that machine's feeder documentation.
  4. Use the correct bank reference when calculating feeder capacity. The JUKI table gives different occupied-position counts for 12 mm and 17 mm bank references.
  5. For RF72AS, obtain the applicable RF72AS specification and bank-position requirement. The older RF table ends at RF56AS; EF72FS settings do not establish RF72AS settings.
  6. Compare the head, tape guide, latch and connector with the removed feeder. Include the intended reel, carrier-tape sample and machine details when agreeing acceptance checks.

03 / Make a useful decision

Selection and replacement advice

Compare feeders using the same tape width, pitch and bank configuration. In JUKI's July 2017 reference, RF32AS occupies four positions under the 12 mm bank reference and three under the 17 mm reference. Counting both as a generic three-slot feeder can leave the layout wrong. Ask the quotation to identify the model, assembly number, revision, supplied accessories and required machine configuration. RF72AS is shown in this gallery and listed by the China supplier as a 72 mm feeder; confirm its current pitch and bank requirements before adding it to a capacity plan. Keep a replacement feeder and a feeder-bank conversion as separate quotation scopes.

04 / Care and handling

Maintenance and handling guidance

Before installation, inspect the tape guide, sprocket area, cover, latch and connector with the feeder safely isolated. Photograph damaged or missing features before making adjustments. Do not force a bent guide or latch into position.

Use the cleaning method, lubricant and service procedure specified for the exact feeder and machine. This model comparison does not establish a cleaning fluid, lubrication point or maintenance interval.

Agree a feed check using the intended tape and pocket pitch on the relevant machine. Include loading, repeated indexing, pickup presentation and the applicable recovery sequence. Use the machine's acceptance limits rather than a tolerance inferred from these photographs.

For transport, protect the head, connector and projecting mechanisms from contact loads. Record the model and supplied accessories together so that reels, brackets or adapters are not assumed to be included.

Before you ask

Questions about this part

How do RF08AS and RF12AS differ?

The JUKI reference lists 8 mm tape with 1, 2 or 4 mm pitch for RF08AS. RF12AS uses 12 mm tape with 2, 4, 8 or 12 mm pitch. Their occupied-position counts also depend on the bank reference.

Will an RF feeder fit every RS-series machine?

Do not select by the RS name alone. Confirm the exact machine, RF bank, interface and supported configuration. The older JUKI feeder catalogue is a model reference, not confirmation of every later machine or software version.

Can EF72FS data be used for RF72AS?

No substitution is established. The catalogue presents RF and EF as different series. Request RF72AS-specific pitch, bank-position and interface information before using that model in a feeder layout.

Which photographs help identify a replacement RF feeder?

Send the full feeder model label, front and rear views, head, latch and connector. Add the machine model and the assembly number from the relevant parts list or quotation. Keep the photographed manufacturer number with the unit record.

What should an RF feeder acceptance check cover?

Agree the carrier-tape width and pitch, machine configuration, supplied accessories and functions to demonstrate. A repeated feed check should use the intended material and the machine's documented limits; photographs alone do not establish feeding performance.
